At St. Christopher’s we firmly believe that children’s social and emotional needs are as equally important as their academic needs. Nurture is the responsibility of every member of staff, but the support of those who need additional provision is overseen by Mrs Brindle. Her job is to offer support to all children and parents/carers with issues that may have a negative impact on school life, for example:

  1. Lack of self-confidence/low self-esteem
  2. Friendships
  3. Home circumstances, including support for service families
  4. Behaviour traits

Sometimes concerns arise in school, other times, issues may present at home. Whatever the circumstances, no matter how big or small she is there to listen and talk things through in confidence. Her aim is to work together with children, parents/carers and teachers to address and resolve concerns, enabling children to achieve their full social and academic potential.

We are very lucky at St Christopher’s to have a designated space in which to offer our nurture provision. “Debs’ Den” can be found behind Willow and Oak classrooms, and it provides a confidential, secure and warm environment within which to work. Mrs Brindle is in school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and can also be available on Fridays if necessary.

From time to time we organise drop-in sessions which are advertised via the schools newsletter. These will give us an informal chance to meet, and enable you to see the facilities we have to offer.
