Intent

At St Christopher’s Primary School, we aspire to inspire pupil’s fascination, curiosity and respect for Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our high quality teaching enables children to ask meaningful questions, think critically, investigate a range of sources of evidence and make their own judgements or reflections. We want children to be able to compare and contrast through looking at change, events or contexts and understand how time has influenced their own identity, as well as that of past societies. Furthermore, our teaching gives children opportunities to take their history skills outside of the classroom through educational visits and fieldwork studies. Throughout their time at St Christopher’s, we will enable children to build their skills to become excellent historians who can communicate ideas confidently and embrace challenging enquiries.
